DARPA greenlights Bell's rotor-folding X-plane
By David Szondy

Bell's revolutionary X-plane rotorcraft has received the green light to progress to the building and testing of a demonstrator aircraft. DARPA has down-selected the craft to move to Phase 2 of the agency's Speed and Runway Independent Technologies (SPRINT) program.

Rotorcraft such as the V-22 Osprey, with tiltable blades sitting on nacelles at the end of the aircraft's wings, have been around for decades, but DARPA's SPRINT program wants to push these to the next level by introducing a bit of Transformer's technology. A joint effort with the US Special Operations Command (SOCOM), SPRINT aims to combine the runway independence of a rotorcraft with the high-subsonic speed and performance of a jet airplane with cruise speeds of up to 400 to 450 knots (740 to 833 km/h, 460 to 518 mph).

Based on Bell's Valor-280, the X-plane ups the speed and performance by using nacelles with rotors that can be feathered and stopped before folding away as the aircraft transitions from propeller horizontal flight to jet propulsion. This gets rid of the drag produced by the rotors as they become redundant and allows for much higher speeds and stability.

I'm giving Trump until tomorrow for him to mention it and not turn into an American-Chinese proxy. Also ASEAN is the UN proved.

US Air Force to blow up Tesla Cybertrucks in missile tests amid fears enemies could use them

Image

The US Air Force wants two Tesla Cybertrucks. The plan isn't to use them for transportation purposes, though; the EVs will be used for target practice. According to official documents, the trucks are a lot tougher than normal vehicles, meaning enemies are more likely to buy them – so the USAF wants to practice blowing them up.

Federal contracting documents posted online by the US Air Force Material Command show that the military branch is looking for a supplier that can provide 33 towable target vehicles. They will be sent to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to support US Special Operations Command (SOCOM).

Another document shows that the Air Force wants two of these vehicles to be Tesla Cybertrucks. It explains that the enemy may transition to the EVs as they "have been found not to receive the normal extent of damage upon major impact," presumably compared to the likes of Toyota Tacomas or Ford F-150s.

After ‘Years of Neglected Oversight,’ House Votes to Repeal Authorization Used by Presidents to Wage ‘Forever Wars’
By Stephen Prager
September 11, 2025

Introduction:
(Common Dreams) Almost exactly 24 years after the September 11, 2001 attacks, the US House of Representatives voted Tuesday to finally repeal a pair of more than two-decade-old congressional authorizations that have allowed presidents to carry out military attacks in the Middle East and elsewhere.

In a 261-167 vote, with 49 Republicans joining all Democrats, the House passed an amendment to the next military spending bill to rescind the Authorizations for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) passed by Congress in the leadup to the 1991 Persian Gulf War and 2003 War in Iraq.

The decision is a small act of resistance in Congress after what the Quincy Institute’s Adam Weinstein described in Foreign Policy magazine as “years of neglected oversight” by Congress over the “steady expansion of presidential war-making authority.”

As Weinstein explains, these AUMFs, originally meant to give presidents narrow authority to target terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda and use military force against Saddam Hussein, “have been stretched far beyond their original purposes” by presidents to justify the use of unilateral military force across the Middle East.

President George W. Bush used the 2002 authorization, which empowered him to use military force against Iraq, to launch a full invasion and military occupation of the country. Bush would stretch its purview throughout the remainder of his term to apply the AUMF to any threat that could be seen as stemming from Iraq.

Trump's Dream of Retaking Bagram Might End up Looking Like an Afghan Re-Invasion, Sources Say
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump's goal of re-occupying Bagram air base in Afghanistan might end up looking like a re-invasion of the country, requiring more than 10,000 troops as well as deployment of advanced air defenses, current and former U.S. officials say. (quadruple that)

Trump, speaking to reporters on Thursday during a trip to London, said "we want that base back" and cited what he called its strategic location near China.

"It's an hour away from where China makes its nuclear weapons," Trump said.

He hinted on Thursday that the U.S. could acquire the base with some kind of Taliban consent but it was unclear what form such an agreement might take. It would be a remarkable turnaround for the Taliban, which fought to expel U.S. troops and retake the country from a U.S.-backed government.
