Middle schooler fatally shot by fellow student in Albuquerque
Source: ABC News

One student was killed by another in a shooting at a middle school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Friday.

The shooting took place at about 12:45 p.m. local time between two male students during a lunch break outside Washington Middle School. Friday was just the third day of classes for the school district.

Police were unsure what grade the students were in, but said they were both approximately 13 years old.

The shooting was an isolated incident between the two students and the shooter was immediately taken into custody by a school resource officer, police said. Officials praised the resource officer for quickly rushing to the scene and de-escalating the situation before taking the shooter into custody.

Plymouth shooter made misogynist remarks echoing the 'incel' ideology
Jake Davison, the 22-year-old man who shot dead five people in the English city of Plymouth on Thursday, made repeated misogynist remarks on social media that echoed the ideology of "incel," a movement of men who often claim they feel unfairly denied sex by women or girls.

Davison went on hateful rants about women on a YouTube channel that has been taken down. In video clips seen by CNN, he makes numerous hateful remarks, calling women "very simple-minded" and shallow, saying that most women are only motivated by money.
The videos paint a picture of a young man who had been frustrated with his lack of success with women sexually since he was a teenager.

Fox News Ignores a DC Bomb Threat Inspired by Right-wing Conspiracy Theory Culture
by Aaron Ruper
August 20, 2021

https://www.vox.com/2021/8/20/22634061/ ... omb-threat

Introduction:
(Vox) A Thursday night news brief on Fox News contained a remarkable claim — that the network doesn’t have enough information to determine what motivated a man spouting right-wing conspiracy theories to shut down a significant portion of Washington, DC, around the Library of Congress by claiming to have a bomb earlier in the day.

“So far, no word on a possible motive,” said anchor Jackie Ibanez at the conclusion of a 15-second brief that amounted to the entirety of Fox News’s Thursday night coverage of the incident.

The brevity could conceivably be excused: No one was injured, and US Capitol Police announced Thursday evening they had cleared the suspect’s black pickup truck. And Fox News covered the incident as it was ongoing earlier in the day. But Ibanez’s claim about motive bears more scrutiny.

It’s true that after the bomb threat suspect — later identified as 49-year-old Floyd Ray Roseberry, of Grover, North Carolina — surrendered to law enforcement, police said “we don’t know what his motives are at this time.” (Fox News didn’t immediately respond to an inquiry from Vox asking the network to explain Ibanez’s “no word on a possible motive” report.)

But Ibanez’s comment may have been intended to obscure an uncomfortable truth for America’s most-watched cable news network. In videos streamed to Facebook before and during the bomb threat while he sat in a truck, Roseberry made clear he’s immersed in right-wing conspiracy theories and grievances that receive heavy play on Fox.
Don't mourn, organize.

One of the men was bleeding significantly, and the other appeared to be chasing him with scissors. The victim ran to the emergency room entrance of Harborview Medical Center and was treated for multiple stab wounds.Earlier this month while a 7-year-old girl and her grandmother in Everett were being interview by KING 5 News about the girl’s lemonade stand being shut was shut down, while elected officials and local authorities ignored a nearby homeless encampment, when a naked man walked out of the woods and into the park in the middle of interview and was later spotted at a homeless camp a few blocks away.

Portland protests descend into violence as opposing groups clash with paintballs, weapons, chemical
Source: Washington Post

By Andrew Jeong

Hundreds of far-left and far-right demonstrators clashed in Portland, Ore., on Sunday afternoon, firing paintballs, spraying chemicals and destroying property.

Police haven’t reported any deaths or injuries. But footage from the two areas where the demonstrations had occurred showed gunshots being fired, people being shoved to the ground, and some protesters breaking the windows of parked vehicles. Images showed at least one person surrendering to law enforcement officials where the shots had been fired. Dennis G. Anderson, 65, was charged with unlawful use and possession of a firearm shortly after the shooting, police said.

The clashes came on the anniversary of similar competing protests a year ago, after the murder of George Floyd. In that incident, a far-right protester was shot and killed after demonstrators and counter-protesters clashed. An anti-fascist activist suspected of the shooting was later killed in a confrontation with police.

Sunday’s violence occurred in two parts of the city, according to the Portland Police Bureau and local news reports.
