Video shows 83-year-old man get attacked on city bus, police said.

A bruiser with a short fuse and a taste for bright green soda beat an elderly man so badly on a Bronx bus that he was hospitalized for days, police sources said.

Police on Monday released video of the cruel May 31 assault, which left the 83-year-old victim with multiple facial fractures.

Cops said the victim was trying to debark from an MTA bus near Barnes Ave. and E. Gun Hill Road in Williamsbridge about 5:30 p.m., but the suspect was standing in his way.

Two Shot Outside Nationals Park During Game Against Padres

A shooting occurred Saturday night outside of Nationals Park, D.C. Police said.

The shooting was reported at N Street and South Capitol Street SW, near the third base gate, during the Nationals game against the San Diego Padres, police said.

Two people were shot and transported to the hospital conscious and breathing. The shooting was not related to the game, police said.

Social media video shows fans fleeing stadium. The announcer urges people to keep calm and stay inside, repeating that the incident was reported outside.

Two Men Were Just Charged With Planning to Bomb a Democratic Party Building to Avenge Trump

(Mother Jones) This winter, two men who wrongly believed that Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election allegedly concocted an elaborate plan to bomb the California Democratic Party’s headquarters in Sacramento—and even assembled the bombs with which they hoped to do it.

Federal prosecutors disclosed the alleged plot by 45-year-old Ian Benjamin Rogers and 37-year-old Jarrod Copeland in an indictment unsealed this week.

Rogers was taken into custody earlier this month after state officials and the FBI searched his home and found 49 firearms—including several that appeared to be automatic weapons—about 15,000 rounds of ammunition, five assembled pipe bombs, materials that can be used to make more explosives, and two device-building manuals. The FBI also found insignia of the Three Percenters, an anti-government militia group, and a gag credit card refashioned into a “white privilege card” with the inscription “white privilege trumps everything” and a number made up entirely of “0045,” likely in reference to Donald Trump, the 45th president.

The indictment in the case described how Rogers and Copeland began planning their attack over encrypted text message apps just a few weeks after the November 2020 election. “Ok bro we need to hit the enemy in the mouth,” Rogers wrote to Copeland. “I think right now we attack democrats. They’re offices etc. Molotov cocktails and gasoline.” Copeland responded that they would need more people. Over the next several days, they settled on a location—the state Democratic Party headquarters in Sacramento—and ping-ponged increasingly violent ideas for how to execute their attack.

“I think I’ll do a drive bye and unload a couple drums into that commie building,” wrote Rogers. Copeland responded with a simple: “Lol.” Then they opted instead to “fire bomb the place.” Rogers added, “Guns are too loud.”

2 killed, 13 wounded by gunfire in Chicago Tuesday

Two people were killed and 13 others were wounded by gunfire in Chicago Tuesday, including a masked armed robber who was killed during a home invasion in Jeffery Manor on the South Side.

A resident of the home heard a loud sound at the front door about 11 p.m. in the 9500 block of South Calhoun Avenue, Chicago police said. The man, 49, opened the door and two armed gunmen wearing masks forced their way in. The man yelled for help and two men, 24 and 25, rushed up from the basement. The three began to fight with the robbers and a gun discharged several times. One of the robbers was struck in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second man ran off. The 25-year-old was struck in the arm and taken to Trinity Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Shoplifters hit TJ Maxx in Granada Hills in brazen crime captured on video

LOS ANGELES - Shoplifters hit TJ Maxx in Granada Hills on Monday in a brazen robbery captured on video.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, two unidentified suspects entered the store between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. and grabbed dozens of items each. The pair was captured on bystander video leaving the store without paying and the LAPD later said that the pair "refused to pay."

This happened at the TJ Maxx located at 18045 Chatsworth Street in Granada Hills.

"That looks great," the bystander who took the video can be heard saying as the pair headed towards the door with their stash.

Retired Minneapolis police officer Mylan Masson warns that while the city currently is not 'as bad' as Chicago, it 'certainly could be' unless the crime surge is addressed.

A business owner in Minneapolis, who set up shop across town a year after his first Indian restaurant was burned down last summer during riots after George Floyd's death, says his van full of supplies for his new establishment was stolen.

Ruhel Islam, an immigrant who grew up under a Bangladeshi dictatorship, said someone took the stolen van to his new restaurant, Curry In A Hurry, from in front of his home then used the keys left inside the truck to enter the building Monday, taking $500 from the register, Fox 9 Minneapolis reported.

His first restaurant, called Gandhi Mahal, was located just blocks away from the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct, which was also burned down by rioters last summer. The restaurant caught fire during the demonstrations. Islam and his daughter, Hafsa Islam, went viral on Facebook, writing in a post at the time, "Let my building burn. Justice needs to be served."

8 injured after party bus shooting in Lincoln Park

CHICAGO — At least eight people are hospitalized after a shooting involving a party bus in Lincoln Park, according to Chicago police.

The shooting happened just before midnight Wednesday in the 1600 block of North La Salle Drive. Police say the group had been traveling on the bus when a dark-gray Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled up, and someone inside fired shots. It is unclear if the victims were inside or outside the bus when the shooting occurred.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm and is in fair condition at Northwestern Hospital, along with a 26-year-old woman who was shot in the leg. She is in serious condition.

A 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the groin and is in serious condition at Northwestern Hospital.

Two men, ages 42 and 52, were both shot in the leg and are in fair condition at Illinois Masonic Hospital.

Merrick Garland heading to Chicago to tackle surging gun violence

Attorney General Merrick Garland is heading to his hometown of Chicago on Thursday to signal the Biden administration’s commitment to reining in the surge of gun violence plaguing many of America’s biggest cities.

Garland is set to unveil a set of new gun “strike forces” aimed at shutting down the pipelines of guns being illegally trafficked into urban centers, but his visit is sure to be received with some skepticism as just the latest policy pronouncement from Washington. Shootings in the Windy City have seemed out of control for years, particularly in the summer.

Last weekend, 56 people were shot in Chicago; 11 of them fatally. Over the Fourth of July weekend, at least 108 people were shot with at least 17 people killed, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"We are redoubling our efforts as ATF works with law enforcement to track the movement of illegal firearms used in violent crimes," Garland said in a statement. "These strike forces enable sustained coordination across multiple jurisdictions to help disrupt the worst gun trafficking corridors."
