Multiple shot, at least 13 injured in NYC subway station; undetonated devices found, officials say
Multiple people were shot in a New York City subway station during rush hour on Tuesday, and several undetonated devices were found, officials said.

At least 13 people were injured during the mayhem that unfolded at a station in Brooklyn's Sunset Park neighborhood, the FDNY said, though it was not immediately clear how many of those victims were shot.

A man, possibly wearing clothes that resembled MTA attire, was spotted throwing a device in the subway station before opening fire, law enforcement sources told NBC New York.

The NYPD, though, said no "active explosive devices" were immediately found at the scene.

Manhunt continues for Brooklyn subway attacker who shot 10 people
Source: New York Times

Authorities on Wednesday continued searching for the attacker who they said shot 10 people on a subway train in Brooklyn a day earlier, setting off panic and a sprawling investigation.

Police on Wednesday morning said that a man sought in the investigation was now considered a suspect, after they had previously called him a person if interest in the case.

...snip...

Investigators were confident James was at the scene of the shooting, based on the discovery of his credit card and the van he rented, according to an official familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the ongoing investigation.

But because his height did not seem to match the description offered by some witnesses, the official said on Tuesday evening, authorities did not feel confident identifying James as the suspected shooter.

Multiple Injured After Shooting at South Carolina Mall
Source: Daily Beast

At least 12 people have been injured following a shooting at a South Carolina mall, authorities said Saturday. Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said three people have been detained in a connection to the non-fatal shooting at a Columbiana Centre Mall in Harbison, South Carolina. Of the 12 people that sustained injuries in the shooting, Holbrook said 10 of them were hit by gunfire and two were injured while exiting the mall. Eight people were taken to a local hospital for treatment and two remain in critical condition. “We don't believe this was random,” the chief said, adding that at least one of the detained individuals opened fire at the mall. “We believe that the individuals that were armed knew each other and there was some type of conflict that occurred that resulted in gunfire.”

By MOHAMMAD SHOAIB AMIN

KABUL, Afghanstan (AP) — Explosions targeting educational institutions killed at least six people, including students, and injured 17 Tuesday in a mostly Shiite neighborhood of Afghanistan’s capital city, police said.

The blasts, which occurred in rapid succession, were being investigated and more casualties were feared, according to Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran and the city’s Emergency Hospital. Several of the wounded were in serious condition and some had been treated and released.

The explosions occurred inside the Abdul Rahim Shaheed High School and near the Mumtaz Education Center several kilometers (miles) away, both in the predominately Shiite Muslim neighborhood of Dasht-e-Barchi. There were no immediate reports of casualties at the Mumtaz Center.

Guards in the narrow street leading to the two-story high school said they saw 10 casualties. Inside the school, an Associated Press video journalist saw walls splattered with blood, burned notebooks and children’s shoes.

I imagine once the bots and/or augmented humans start making a public appearance this thread will have plenty of news. Not a prediction really just an expected outcome that has been warned in media over the years.

Manhunt on for suspects as 100 die in Nigeria refinery blast
Source: AP

By CHINEDU ASADU
ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — At least 100 people may have died in a refinery explosion in southeast Nigeria, an official said Sunday as the search intensified for bodies at the site and for two people suspected of being involved in the blast.

The explosion Friday night at the Ohaji-Egbema local government area in Imo state was triggered by a fire at two fuel storage areas where more than a 100 people worked, state officials told The Associated Press.

Dozens of workers were caught up in the explosion while many others attempted to escape the blaze by running into wooded areas.

Those who died in the disaster are estimated to be within “the range of 100,” said Goodluck Opiah, the Imo commissioner for petroleum resources. “A lot of them ran into the bush with the burns and they died there.”
