Edit: Clarification on my position. Every American administration since America backed the Mujahideen in response to the Afghani Revolution of 1978 is responsible. Nevertheless, the Biden Administration is the current public face of that empire and deserves criticism.

Once the last Americans leave Afghanistan and the Taliban formally take over the country's government, won't the "Afghan War" be over? If yes, then won't it be proper to close this thread?

Let's not be too hasty. This might be far from being over. The Americans might be back striking the Taliban using drones and fighter jets. President Biden will need to redeem himself in some way. This is not a given but a possibility.
To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

US reaches deal with Taliban on evacuations
Source: The Hill
The U.S. has reached a deal with the Taliban to ensure that evacuations from Kabul's airport can take place without interference from the group, according to a report by The Associated Press.

The deal was reached in talks in Doha, Qatar, between senior Taliban officials and Gen. Frank McKenzie.

The two sides apparently agreed to a "deconfliction mechanism” in which operations at the airport in Kabul are permitted to continue without interference from the Taliban.

McKenzie reportedly told the Taliban that any interference would be met with force from the U.S. military, who would move to defend the airport if necessary.

you could change it to post-afghan war news and discussion only if it's officially over.
