Mexico's declining demographics

Post by funkervogt »

Contrary to what most people think, Mexico's population growth has sharply slowed down, and its overall population size is on track to start shrinking by the middle of this century. It owes to lower birthrates and to emigration to the U.S. and Canada.

Mexico might someday compete with the U.S. to attract migrant workers from the poorer countries of Latin America.

Not surprised - with the hyper violence caused by the drug cartels and the highly toxic masculine culture spilling out of that I imagine many people are really asking themselves if that's an environment where they want to bring a child into this world and coming up with a negative answer. Until something is done with the cartels expect fewer couples to have kids and more Mexicans to seek to immigrate to the US whether legally or illegally.
