Introduction:
(Newsweek) NASA is monitoring a building-sized asteroid that’s hurtling towards our planet at around 30,200 miles per hour, according to the Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS).

Spanning around 410 feet across, the asteroid known as “2026 KB1” is expected to make its closest approach later today at around 2.4 million miles from the Earth, according to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

The skyscraper-sized space rock is not the only asteroid within the vicinity of the Earth today. NASA is also tracking three plane-sized asteroids, called “2026 KV,” “2026 JN,” and “2026 KO3,” which are also approaching the Earth today. Their closest approaches range from around 2.4 million miles to around 4.1 million miles, the JPL notes.
