Any buzz news with 3D organ printing?

Post by Lilymoon »

There was a video I will see If I can find it but the idea is if you have bad organ they will use special 3D printer to print it.

Not sure how it works or how advance they are but there is lot of reasrching going into 3D printers used in medicine.

Just how far are they today with 3D printed organs and what are the major problems holding them back today with 3D printed organs?

We actually have a thread pretty much dedicated to your question:

https://www.futuretimeline.net/forum/vi ... +printing

Edit: At least, it has news on the more general topic of 3d bioprinting.

I thought one of major problems they had is how to connect every thing and only some cells was being printed but not other cells?

So think of organ as mini city but only some parts are being printed. So are the printers getting more advance?

I'd like to see all organs be able to be printed? What time frame do you think this will occur and what methods are we seeing to get the job done?

Currently predicted for 2025 on our timeline, but I'm beginning to think this is overly optimistic. There's been little progress beyond some basic valves, veins, etc. and some 3D moulds that are either too small and/or don't actually pump blood. We might hear more from animal studies I guess.
