"We Live In The Future": Post things that give you future shock!
Re: "We Live In The Future": Post things that give you future shock!
Very similar to Dulles airport, less comfortable looking seats (you have to stand) and Dulles has more of a strictly A to B route. Also, no outdoor scenery at Dulles and the pods are a little bit larger and typically carry more passengers.
Don't mourn, organize.

'Everybody is looking at their phones,' says man freed after 30 years in prison
Sunday 23 February 2025 15:15, UK
A man who has been released from prison after 30 years for a crime he says he never committed has been readjusting to life - and getting used to just how connected people are now.
Gordon Cordeiro was jailed in 1994 over the murder of Timothy Blaisdell on the island of Maui, but due to new DNA evidence his conviction was overturned on Friday.
Speaking about his first impression of the outside world following his release from Maui Community Correctional Center, Mr Cordeiro, who has always maintained his innocence, said he has been trying to get used to how connected people are.
"Everybody is looking at their phones," he said, during his first Zoom interview since leaving prison.
Mr Cordeiro also commented on the new DNA evidence which led to his release, telling the Associated Press news agency: "Thank God for new DNA. Technology is awesome."

We're reaching a point that I used to talk about 10 years back on the earlier FT forum: the point where robots, actual physical robots, seem ripped straight out of a science fiction movie.

Imagine the machines of 2035...
I'm hoping we get some advancements in facial/lip movements and overall skin quality.
Then perhaps by 2045-50, they can bridge the Uncanny Valley.

Over at X, they're now using Grok to fact check people they're debating with.firestar464 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:38 pm this is why you debate for onlookers and not the people you're debating with
To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

Imagine where we'll be a decade from now. Robotics will be normalized into everyday life just as cellphones were:
