Lets say you could have one trip

Post by weatheriscool »

Lets say you could have a one way trip back to a "0" year or the beginning of the decade as far back as 1900.
So
1900
1910
1920
1930
1940
1950
1960
1970
1980
1990
2000
2010
2020

You'd be allowed enough money, housing and ability to watch the development of the progress in the comfort of your home without having to work. You'll be well off. You'd live out the rest of your life from that year.

This is hard as 1900 I'd get to watch the first planes, cars and arguably the most impressive advancements in solid civilization of the past 5,000 years and I'd argue to say that the 20-30 year period I'd see physics and chemistry progress to match!. Cities exploding in ways that one could only dream of today in construction! 1920's I'd get to watch unimaginable medical progress in vaccines, etc. 1940's I'd get to witness the first jets and arguably the most amazing two decades in transplants of all of human history. Rockets and the development of the first computers occurred in this period. 1960's I'd get to see the height of the space age when people literally supported going into space and still dreamed of going to other livable planets before the let down. You'd get to see armstrong land and walk on the moon! 1980's you'd get to see the explosion of computers in the home and video games!!! 1990's you'd get to witness the web from the start. 2000's you'll get wifi, 2010's you'll get to see renewable energy explode into something respectable and have the right to be transgender and gay!

2000 to enjoy it and the 10's. Related to that maybe the 90's instead.

I would not take a one way trip. Despite the difficulties of our modern world I think I'd always choose it over the past. I would consider a one-way trip in the other direction, however (e.g. 2050, 2080, 2100, 2200)

Let's say I have no choice and must pick an answer. I'd probably pick 1980. Let's go see exactly what everyone in the 55-70 age range is so nostalgic about. I'd also get to see what the 90s were like and experience the 2000s as an adult instead of a child. I think living through the same time period as an adult that I did as a clueless child would be fascinating.

As interesting as the 1900-1950 range would be from a technological perspective, I wouldn't want to live through World Wars 1 or 2.
I'm just a bird who escapes his cage to post here sometimes.
