On Monday, a TikTok video of a car driving across a frozen canal before tumbling into the water began to rack up millions of views.

In the clip, a group of people is shown skating across the ice. As they notice a car coming toward them, they step out of its way. "That's so ballsy," an onlooker can be heard saying.

As the car passes them and continues onward, the viewers appear to grow nervous.

"He knows it's thawed down there?" a voice asks.

BBC apologises after sex noises heard during FA Cup coverage

The BBC has apologised after sexual noises interrupted live television coverage of the FA Cup.

Moaning was heard while Gary Lineker presented the third-round replay between Wolves and Liverpool on Tuesday.

The football pundit later posted a picture of a mobile phone he said was "taped to the back of the set".

"We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening," the BBC said.

A spokesperson said the BBC was investigating the incident.

School employee accused of stealing $1.5M in food from cafeteria, mostly wings

HARVEY, Ill. (AP) — A Chicago-area school district official has been charged in the theft of $1.5 million worth of food — mostly chicken wings.

Vera Liddell, 66, was being held in the Cook County Jail on a $150,000 bond, WGN-TV reported Monday.

Liddell worked as food service director for Harvey School District 152.

More than 11,000 cases of chicken wings were ordered from the district’s food provider and then picked up in a district cargo van, according to court documents reviewed by the television station.

The food was ordered during the height of the coronavirus pandemic at a time when students were being educated remotely and not allowed to attend class in school buildings. The district continued to provide meals for students that their parents could pick up.

Prosecutors say district funds were used to pay for the food, but none of it was taken to the district or provided to students. A routine mid-year audit found the district was $300,000 over its annual food service budget, despite being only halfway through that academic year.

Passengers on a flight from New Zealand to New York spent 16 hours in the air just to end up at the same airport where their journey began.

The Air New Zealand nonstop flight from Auckland to New York had been in the air for about 8 hours Thursday and was about 2,000 miles from California when the airline received word that an electrical fire at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport had led to Terminal 1 being closed.

The airline said the decision was made for the plane to turn around and return to Auckland, where it landed about 16 hours after departing.

"Diverting to another U.S. port would have meant the aircraft would remain on the ground for several days, impacting a number of other scheduled services and customers," an airline spokeswoman told the New Zealand Herald.

The Dalai Lama found himself at the centre of a controversy after a video showed the Tibetan spiritual leader kissing a minor boy on his lips and then asking him to ‘suck his tongue’. The video, which has gone viral on social media platforms, has evoked a furious response from the netizens.

The video shows the Dalai Lama kissing the child on his lips as the latter leaned in to pay his respects. After a few second, the Tibetan spiritual leader can be seen pointing to his mouth and sticking his tongue out. "Can you suck my tongue," the Dalai Lama can be heard asking the minor boy in the video.

The video has triggered a row, with netizens calling the spiritual leader’s behaviour “disgusting” and "creepy".

“Utterly shocked to see this display by the Dalai Lama. In the past, too, he’s had to apologize for his sexist comments. But saying - 'Now suck my tongue' to a small boy is disgusting,” a netizen tweeted.

Gov. McMaster's office says 'hunt them with dogs' comment was 'joke.' SC Dems want apology.

The Anderson County Democratic Party issued a statement Sunday, May 21, following Gov. Henry McMaster's comments during Saturday's South Carolina Republican Party Convention.

According to The State reporter Joseph Bustos, McMaster said: "I look forward to the day that democrats are so rare, we have to hunt them with dogs."

Chris Salley, chair of the Anderson County Democratic Party, said in a statement:

"Yesterday, Governor Henry McMaster threatened me, my family, and thousands of other Anderson County residents who are Democrats when he said he looks forward to the day he can "hunt us with dogs."

If the Governor is not willing to apologize and retract this racially-tinged dog whistle, Anderson County Democrats join the Charleston County Democratic Party in asking the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to open an investigation into this threat and incitement of political violence.

Asiana Airlines: Passenger arrested for opening plane door during South Korea flight

A man has been arrested for opening the emergency door of an Asiana Airlines flight as it was landing in South Korea.

All 194 passengers survived the flight, which landed safely but with its door still open at Daegu International Airport on Friday.

Some passengers fainted while others had breathing problems and were taken to hospital, local media reported.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested upon landing, said Yonhap news agency.

Flight OZ8124, an Airbus A321-200 jet, had taken off from Jeju Island on Friday about 11:45 local time (03:45 GMT).

Moment climber found in rare Everest ‘death zone’ rescue

He carried the climber down from 8,500m above sea level over the course of six hours.

Bella Montoya, a 76-year-old woman in Ecuador, woke up inside a coffin at her own funeral.

Montoya was admitted to a hospital in Ecuador on Friday after suffering from a stroke and later pronounced dead. According to the Ministry of Health, she “suffered from cardiac and respiratory arrest without responding to resuscitation attempts, after which the duty doctor confirmed her death.”

Everyone at her funeral service was shocked when she took a deep breath from within her casket and began hitting the sides from the inside. This video, posted on social media, shows the woman breathing in her open coffin and surrounded by two men who came to help her.

Montoya’s son, Gilbert Balberán said that she is now “on artificial respiration and her heart is stable.”

“I am slowly recovering from what happened,” Balberán said. “Now all I ask is that my mother’s health improve. I want her to be alive and by my side.”
