A century

Post by Ken_J »

in the process of thinking about what a century of life would be like, and if we lived for centuries how would we mark them individually like we notice the decades when we hit them.

1 century
10 decades
100 years
1,200.86 months
5217.86 weeks
36,525 days
876,600 hours
52,596,000 minutes
3,155,760,000 seconds

it really feels like lookinng at those days and weeks, that that is not nearly enough time. and that's before you realize the for most here on the forum, somewhere between 1/5 and 1/2 of those numbers are gone now. huge portions of it where used up when you were too stupid to understand the concept of the sand pouring out of the hourglass. and there is likely to be a smaller but not insignificant part toward the end where enfeeblement will again rob you of the awareness of it.

oh and also, most people fall short of this milestone by 20%. if we imagine the first 20 years and the last 10 are not fully established selves. and a life expectancy of roughly 80. you get 1/2 of each of those things above. and some of us are approaching the half life of that in the next 6-7 years.

That is if we do nothing about the declines of age and extending human lifespan.

If we do crack those problems, we might very well reach a point where 'my first century' would be like a photo album of your first decade of life.
