DARPA Funded Researchers Accidentally Create The World's First Warp Bubble

Post by Yuli Ban »

Warp drive pioneer and former NASA warp drive specialist Dr. Harold G “Sonny” White has reported the successful manifestation of an actual, real-world “Warp Bubble.” And, according to White, this first of its kind breakthrough by his Limitless Space Institute (LSI) team sets a new starting point for those trying to manufacture a full-sized, warp-capable spacecraft.

“To be clear, our finding is not a warp bubble analog, it is a real, albeit humble and tiny, warp bubble,” White told The Debrief, quickly dispensing with the notion that this is anything other than the creation of an actual, real-world warp bubble. “Hence the significance.”

To further evaluate his groundbreaking results and move the research forward, White and his team have come up with a proposed design for a testable, nano-scale “warp drive craft.”

“Specifically,” said White during the AIAA presentation, “a toy model consisting of a 1-micron diameter sphere centrally located in a 4-micron diameter cylinder was analyzed to show a three-dimensional Casimir energy density that correlates well with the Alcubierre warp metric requirements.”

Nonetheless, after proposing this further path for future research, White and his team have also outlined a second testable experiment that involves stringing a number of these Casimir-created warp bubbles in a chain-like configuration. This design, he said, would allow researchers to better understand the physics of the warp bubble structure already created, as well as how a craft may one day traverse actual space inside such a warp bubble.

We just merged with the Star Trek timeline.
To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

Sounds like clickbait to me.

No, really, apparently there's even a peer-reviewed paper on it

Sorry, but big doubt (x) on this one. Hoping for the best, though.
And, as always, bye bye.

from what I've seen of scientists talking about this, the amount of energy needed for a single person shuttle would be about the mass of our sun converted to energy.

That's on top of the fact that this effect happens between two surfaces that have to be so close together that you can't detect the gap with the human eye. and the outside surface isn't part of the object in warp. So it sounds like you would have to completely encase the object within a shell closer to it's surface than a human hair, and pump huge amounts of energy into it.

I am unclear what happens to the moved object if the shell doesn't actually move. to me this sounds more like the barrel of a gun than a warp drive. perhaps a launch device, or a mass-driver, a way of communicating faster than light, or depending on the physics a type of high power thruster.

But that brings up the fact that the scientist involved was also the guy who was convinced that the EM drive was generating thrust that could be tapped to power spacecraft. And used some of the same estimates for that which are being used for this warp bubble.

don't get me wrong, I'd take faster than light communications, launch devices, and powerful thrusters able to get us up to a greater fraction of the speed of light. but those are steep promises that no evidence is there for yet.

and if it really did warp space-time, I'd be curious what sorts of capabilities it would have for gravity manipulation and time distortion. Cuz if you could make a time stasis bubble, and 'anti-gravity' field alone, That would be world changing.

I can't find info on what a warp bubble is and feel like I need to find a Star Trek episode to find info on it

This reminds me of how we developed the science of teleportation but can only teleport like one atom by less than a meter.

If true this kind of tech could help humanity survive post singularity and may contribute to the many techs required to allow us to prevent the end of the universe or help with time travel so we can scan the past allowing people to live in perfect virtual simulations of the past customized to their wants.

God I hope this turns out to be true! This is literally the greatest advancement in space tech since the rocket.

This alone destroys its credibility IMO, and from what I'm reading they didn't actually "create" anything, it's just a model. More hype/clickbait (currently top-voted on r/futurology) and disappointing to see people blindly taken in by it.

I am not trying to take sides in the "is this just click bait?" debate, but here is a video on the subject. Just being the messenger, so please don't get mad at little old layman me.
