Gov. Ron DeSantis cruises to re-election, solidifying GOP hold on Florida politics
Source: NBC News
MIAMI — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis notched a quick election night win, NBC News projected Tuesday, a victory that could become a springboard for a future White House run and put him on a collision course with former President Donald Trump.

DeSantis’ victory over former Rep. Charlie Crist — fueled by a massive cash advantage, political headwinds against Democrats like Crist and changing demographics in a reddening state — contrasted sharply with the governor’s election four years ago when he won by less than half a percentage point.

Sen. Marco Rubio also cruised to victory Tuesday night, NBC News projected, securing his third term amid a statewide Democratic collapse. He defeated Democratic Rep. Val Demings.

Now, as ballots continue to be tallied, DeSantis supporters and campaign insiders hope he wins bragging rights by exceeding Jeb Bush’s historic 2002 margin when he secured re-election as governor by 12.8 percentage points. DeSantis also might become the first Republican gubernatorial candidate since Bush to win Miami-Dade, the state’s largest county, which also has its largest Hispanic population and was once considered a Democratic bastion.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Wins Arkansas Governor's Race
Source: Huffington Post
Former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is projected to win the Arkansas governorship, securing a post once held by her father and boosting her national profile as a top Republican.

Sanders defeated Democrat Chris Jones and libertarian candidate Ricky Dale Harrington in a race that was largely seen as hers to lose, given the state’s conservative bent.

As the chief spokesperson for former President Donald Trump between 2017 and 2019, Sanders aggressively promoted his attacks on targets like immigrants and former FBI director James Comey, frequently spread lies and helped Trump secure control of the GOP by slamming Republicans who questioned him.

She also frequently criticized journalists, ending the White House practice of regular press briefings, and fueled a Washington, D.C., controversy after the 2018 White House Correspondents Dinner, when comedian Michelle Wolf joked about Sanders, and some reporters jumped to her defense; a group of journalists later threw her a controversial farewell party.

Current GOP pickup count in the House is five. They've flipped FL-4 (Bean), FL-7 (Mills), FL-13 (Luna), VA-2 (Kiggans) and GA-6 (McCormick) so far.

Repubs are having a pretty shit night lol.

They will probably get the slimmest of house majorities and that is it. May be a Georgia run off. Which I bet the Democrats will win.

Most of the election deniers are getting stomped, even in Arizona LOL. Only major election denier to win so far I think is the Senator in Ohio and he is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. So much for that late Republican momentum.

Putin must be pissing himself in the Kremlin over Ukraine.
