Or maybe, just maybe, it's Russia's fault?
For... you know, launching the biggest illegal invasion in Europe since the 40s.

His unit's U.S.-supplied M777 howitzer, which once hurled 100 shells a day at the encroaching enemy, is now often reduced to fewer than 10.

In round numbers:
152mm shell $500 ($600?)
155mm shell $5.000 (up to $8.000)
Ukraine had less population (1:3.5), now even less: 1:7 (?).
Is Russia spending more money on this war?
Any conclusions?

Joe Biden’s administration has challenged a claim by the British defence secretary, Grant Shapps, that China is sending “lethal aid” to Russia for use in its war in Ukraine. theguardian
I am missing something in that US challenging UK about China...
What's more, countries aren't willing to accept the blow to their own air defenses necessary to make good on deliveries to Ukraine, said Fabian Hoffmann, a researcher working on missile technology at the University of Oslo. Politico
US is spending $20bn (of UKR aid) on itself.
"Propaganda is an inescapable ingredient of modern conflict. In the Second World War, it was considered essential for the struggle to defeat the German army that the peoples of the Grand Alliance should be convinced of the qualitative superiority of their fighting men to those of the enemy. One dogface or one tommy was worth three wooden-headed krauts. Hitler's robots could never match the imagination and initiative of Allied soldiers on the battlefield." Max Hastings. I does look familiar.

"Ukrainian servicemen in Kharkiv Oblast near the Russian border are finally receiving the artillery shells they need to halt Russia’s advance, according to Euractiv reporters who visited the frontline and spoke with the soldiers.
For six months, Ukrainian troops were hindered by shortages of artillery shells and other weapons due to delays in US Congress approving military aid. Russia exploited this situation by opening a new front in northern Kharkiv Oblast on 10 May."

The plentiful shells Zelenskyi was talking about.

"We can and must prevent Ukraine from losing, but we cannot ensure that it wins." Anyone who keeps demanding that "weapon A must be delivered more quickly and weapon B in even greater quantities" is chasing "illusions." "Always increasing the dose when the medicine is not working" is "not convincing."

What I wonder is who and how could anyone have seen an optimistic "big picture" for UKR.

NATO Allies to Erect Drone Wall Along Russia Border

NATO states along the alliance's eastern flank will bolster their protection against "unfriendly countries" with unmanned vehicles, Lithuania's interior minister has said, as the world eyes the rapid pace of drone development fed by the war in Ukraine. "This is a completely new thing—a drone border from Norway to Poland, the purpose of which would be to protect our border with the help of drones and other technologies," Vilnius' Interior Minister, Agnė Bilotaitė, told domestic news agency BNS.
The drones will add to physical barriers and surveillance systems to "allow us to also protect ourselves from provocations by unfriendly countries, and prevent contraband," Bilotaitė said. The "wall" will also employ counter-drone technology, regional media reported.
More than two years of war in Ukraine has spurred on lightning-fast innovations in airborne, land-based and waterborne drones. Uncrewed technology fills the skies above Ukraine, with Moscow and Kyiv battling it out to stay ahead of the other.
"As a venture of this scale, it's unique," Estonia's Interior Minister Lauri Laanemets said in remarks reported by The Baltic Times. "Drone surveillance and anti-drone capability is crucial both for deterrence and for countering the influence activities of our eastern neighbor."

Re: Ukraine War Watch Thread
Here is how to end the ukraine war! We should give Ukraine 500 nukes in secret and the ability to launch them upto 1,000 miles. Not icbm's but medium range rockets. Ukraine should tell russia that they've developed nuclear bombs themselves and end with telling russia to get the f*ck out of their country or they're going to start launching them within a month.
Maybe as they state this reality they release video of their nuclear bombs being loaded onto rockets and labs showing scientist next to them.

Re: Ukraine War Watch Thread
Sure, because giving Ukraine 500 nukes and medium-range rockets wouldn't escalate tensions or risk catastrophic consequences at all.weatheriscool wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2024 7:49 pm We should give Ukraine 500 nukes and the ability to launch them upto 1,000 miles. Enough with the whataboutisms. This isn't about the Vietnam war, Cold war, or any other past war which has taken place before this conflict unless it directly pertains to such. Keep the topic relevant, ie on topic. We appreciate different views here yes, but not gaslighting arguments and non-sequiturs.

Russia just need to drop 2 atomic bombs on Ukrainian towns, they don't even need to be cities, no need to kill 200.000 civilians.
The first two are scot-free, aren't they?
(This could be considered callousness, whataboutism... or an effective strategy to end the war.)

To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

If I am interested in this thread, why should I participate in another one even if I read other threads?
The answer is: Probably not. (Chimeras: pregnancy, different chromosomes organs. I was talking about that to a doctor, even if you have a thread about that).
Thank you for your interest in what I am interested.
