I'd suppose GPT-6 would arrive by next year possibly after the Stargate datacenters are operational. Would also seek to integrate the hardware device being developed with Jony Ive for that more "personal" experience which may be akin to the "Her" movie.

As for "psychosis" that's more on the onus of people themselves, especially with such a large userbase as Open AI's. I'd be more concerned about Meta and XAI, especially the latter's case. I'd sooner trust my own delusions over that of Musk's, but smarter models in general would likely be able to better steer people towards better outcomes while still retaining the emotional EQ 4o displays.

Yeah, I know a good model could keep the warmth just right while not reinforcing delusions, and GPT-5 actually did a decent job at keeping a simulated user's psychosis under control during the Spiral-Bench evals. It's just that nothing ever turns out right, does it?

OpenAI Accelerating GPT6 Release for Early 2026 to Address GPT 5 Complaints

September 3, 2025 by Brian Wang
There has been complaints about OpenAI GPT-5. Sam Altman indicated that GPT-6 could address user feedback on issues like model warmth and emotional engagement without increasing sycophancy. Early speculation points to a possible release as soon as early 2026 but no firm date has been announced.

OpenAI has not been able to scale chips and compute as fast as xAI or Google. OpenAI has a billion users and they are constrained on inference and serving users.

Altman highlighted user desires for features like persistent memory and greater customization, such as defining the AI’s personality or tone.

OpenAI has acknowledged bottlenecks serving the volume of customers. Altman says they have better models ready but can’t deploy them due to insufficient capacity. OpenAI is prioritizing existing paid users while doubling its compute fleet over the next few months.

Welp, the giant is slowing. Won't be surprised if xAI or Deepmind beat them

OpenAI expects business to burn $115 billion through 2029, The Information reports

September 6, 2025

OpenAI has sharply raised its projected cash burn through 2029 to $115 billion as it ramps up spending to power the artificial intelligence behind its popular ChatGPT chatbot, The Information reported on Friday.

The new forecast is $80 billion higher than the company previously expected, the news outlet said, without citing a source for the report.

OpenAI, which has become one of the world's biggest renters of cloud servers, projects it will burn more than $8 billion this year, some $1.5 billion higher than its projection from earlier this year, the report said.

The company did not immediately respond to Reuters request for comment.

To control its soaring costs, OpenAI will seek to develop its own data center server chips and facilities to power its technology, The Information said.
