The data providers said the daily death figures, which at 332 were up strongly from the 57 reported on Wednesday, included a backlog of deaths from the Dec. 24-29 period that had not been recorded properly during the festive period.

Yet another record.

People don't even seem to care anymore. All of my friends on Facebook are out partying, in pubs, on holidays, in crowded theatres, etc. Today I went to the local pharmacy, and out of maybe 30 people I saw, only a single person wore a mask.
I'm rather keen to avoid organ and neurological damage, so despite being triple-jabbed I'll be limiting my contacts for at least the next 4-6 weeks while case numbers reach their expected peak.

Re: COVID-19 News and Discussions
one of many of this sort of things one reddit I've seen:
workers spread to crowds, who bring it home and spread it to family, who bring it to works and spread it to coworkers, who bring it home and spread it to kids who bring it into schools when they reopen.
get ready. We're about to see the hospital system buckle from holiday surges, and then just as it's waning prepare for January 25th. through valentines day to be another spike.
yuuup, everybody everywhere is about to get fucked up. literally all those people out there partying like they didn't get to last year, while jobs and bosses all over the place making people who test pos for covid pull shifts at the end of the year to try and make back money they are out due to covid shut downs and slow recovery. My Gf and I both 100% have covid right now. She is being forced to work at her bartending job tonight even though she feels, looks, and sounds very sick, which she is. She has to do this because everyone else is also sick and the bosses refuse to close on such a “big drinking night”.
It’s not gonna start off a very Happy New Year for a lot of people

Re: COVID-19 News and Discussions
Reading through all the reports of the systemic strain / near collapse of the healthcare system has me wondering what it takes to really wake up the country 9/11 style and am now pondering if the collapse of Walmart would do it.

Now what.
I seriously hope this doesn't result in a genetic recombination which will spur further mutations.

To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

Studies Suggest Why Omicron Is Less Severe: It Spares the Lungs
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/31/heal ... cells.html
----
TL;DR; Omicron has evolved to be a hyperinfectious upper respiratory infection which is unlikely to spread to the lungs (good luck to you if it does though), this is why deaths are likely not increasing like they were with Delta but it does suggest that Long COVID type symptoms such as loss smell/taste/brain barrier fatigue/even clotting could still be the result from this.

According to OWiD yesterday was the first time we broke 2 million global reported cases/day
Worldometers has it at slightly less than 2m but they often backdate data so it might catch up eventually

No End To Pandemic? Experts Suspect Emergence Of Delmicron Variant
What Is Delmicron? 'Delmicron' is made from the Delta and the Omicron variants of COVID 19. As the Omicron variant sweeps populations of Europe and the US, there's a rising suspicion that the coronavirus has yet again mutated into what scientists call the Delmicron Variant, which is purely a consequence of most of the world suffering from high infection rates of both the delta and omicron variants of Covid-19. Delmicron is the double variant of Covid 19, which comprises a combination of twin spikes of the Delta and Omicron variants.

What about the complete lockdown and zero tolerance policy in China? https://nitter.net/songpinganq/status/1 ... 3748345861
After seeing the above, are people here still in support for it?
