It's prediction time!
Peter Overton just went around the panel, asking for some predictions, ahead of the news bulletin.
Former Labor minister Kate Ellis: "A long dire campaign, but I am increasingly excited we are going to have a better government and a better future."
Former Labor leader Bill Shorten: "Everyone should watch Hinkler (a traditionally strong Coalition seat in Queensland) tonight."
Nine political editor Chris Uhlmann: "The Greens and minor parties will have a good night."
Liberal stalwart Julie Bishop: "Mammoth task for Labor to hold all 69 seats they currently have, then win another seven. They have 12 marginal seats under 3 per cent. It's a big ask."
Liberal senator Jane Hume: "Going to be a nail-biter, but I'm cautiously optimistic."
Nationals senator Matt Canavan: "The Palmer vote will be very high tonight. They may decide the election."

To win an election you need to get the most seats in parliament each seat represents an electorate.
A electorate is a location containing the same amount of people as the other electorates.
Liberal = main conservative party
Labor = main progressive party
You need 76 seats to win
So far
Liberal = 5 seats
Labor = 0
Other = 1

Also should Add the N in LNP alliance is the nationals party, basically a party more conservative than the Liberal party that tries to get Rural votes.
