The Government of Canada is warning its residents about mass shootings and the high rate of guns in the U.S.

A travel advisory is asking Canadians to "familiarize yourself on how to respond to an active shooter situation" when visiting the United States, in light of the mass shooting trend looming over the country.
The Government of Canada’s travel information page reminds travellers to be cautious and take security precautions when visiting down south, while pointing in particular to the common nature of gun violence in America.
“The rate of firearm possession in the United States is high,” notes the official travel advisory, last updated on May 19, 2023.
“Incidents of mass shootings occur, resulting most often in casualties. Although tourists are rarely involved, there is a risk of being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

An Arizona man has been arrested after he allegedly shot five people on Friday and Saturday in a random shooting spree, leaving four dead and one injured, police said.
Police arrested Iren Byers, 20, Saturday on four charges of first degree murder and one charge of attempted murder after officials with the Mesa Police Department allegedly saw him on video footage near the scene of multiple shootings that occurred Friday and Saturday. One shooting, in Phoenix, left one dead on Friday afternoon, and the other shootings, in Mesa, left three dead and one injured late Friday and early Saturday. Byers allegedly confessed to the shootings once in custody, police said.
The injured victim in Mesa, a 36-year-old woman, is in stable condition and will undergo surgery for serious injuries, according to Detective Brandi George, public information officer for the police department. Police found her with gunshot wounds around 12:15 a.m. Saturday at Main and Stewart streets.
George added detectives believe Byers “has a lot of different motives” and that the shootings were random, adding that authorities also “suspect there may be some mental illness there.”

France stabbing: Children attacked by knifeman in Annecy playground

Four young children have been stabbed in a park near Lake Annecy, in France's south-east.
Police overpowered and arrested the attacker, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said.
Authorities said the children were aged three or younger and most were in a critical condition.
UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said one of the injured children was British. The three-year-old girl is now stable, the local administration said.
One of the other children is Dutch. An adult was also injured and is also critically ill, according to the administration.

DENVER (AP) — Ten people were wounded in a mass shooting early Tuesday in Denver in an area where basketball fans had been celebrating the Nuggets first NBA title win, police said, and a suspect was taken into custody.
The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. — about 3 1/2 hours after the game — and three of the injured were in critical condition, the Denver Police Department said in a statement. The suspect, a man, was one of the seven people who suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
The shooting happened about a mile from Ball Arena, where the Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat on Monday night.
“As far as what led up to this altercation that resulted in the shots being fired, that’s still under investigation at this time,” police spokesperson Doug Schepman said. “It did occur in the area where we had largest gathering of folks celebrating during the night.”

At least two shootings that erupted Sunday morning in the same area of Kansas City, Missouri, caused "multiple deaths," according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
The shootings occurred about 90 minutes apart in an area southeast of downtown Kansas City, Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forte tweeted Sunday morning.
"KCPD is on scene at 57th and Prospect where multiple victims have been shot resulting in multiple deaths," Forte tweeted.
No arrested were immediately announced by police and a motive for the shootings is under investigation.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — U.S. authorities on Tuesday announced the arrests of four more people in last year’s smuggling deaths of 53 migrants, including eight children, who were left in a tractor trailer in the scorching Texas summer.
Authorities said the four Mexican nationals were aware that the trailer’s air-conditioning unit was malfunctioning and would not blow cool air to the migrants trapped inside during the nearly three-hour ride. When the trailer was opened in San Antonio, 48 migrants were already dead. Another 16 were taken to hospitals, where five more died.
The driver and another man were arrested shortly after the migrants were found. They were charged with smuggling resulting in death and conspiracy.
The four new arrests were made Monday in Houston, San Antonio and Marshall, Texas. Authorities said the smuggling operation transported migrants from Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico by sharing routes, guides, stash houses, trucks and trailers, some of which were stored at a private parking lot in San Antonio.
7 shot, 2 trampled in shooting at nightclub in Kansas

Seven people were shot and two others have been trampled after a shooting inside a nightclub in Wichita, Kansas, early Sunday morning.
Officers were outside of a nightclub located at 222 North Washington Street in Wichita when they heard screaming and shots fired from inside the building at 12:58 a.m., according to Lt. Aaron Moses, Executive Officer of the Wichita Police Department.
Shots were fired inside of the club, according to Moses, where most of the injuries occurred. Seven people were shot, and two others were trampled due to the "mass exodus" of people fleeing from the club, he said.
One of those injured is in critical condition, said Moses, while all the other victims are being treated at local hospitals. The ages of the victims range from 21 to 34-years-old.
I really wonder how there's so many "psychopaths" that don't fear to ruin their lives, end in prison or even die just to kill a small number of civilians.
I'm ignorant about this but someone knows another country that has the same freedoms as US regarding weapons?
It's almost like it was a bad idea...
