As relayed by a Page Six reporter who was present, the mess started after a guest asked Kennedy a question about the environment, an innocent-enough inquiry that enraged former gossip columnist Doug Dechert, the—reportedly drunk—host of the whole event. “The climate hoax!” Dechert started to yell. His senile screams drew the ire of his longtime friend, art critic Anthony Haden-Guest, who wasted no time condemning Dechert and pleading for him to “shut up.” But Dechert was relentless, continuing to rant about the “scam” of climate change while Haden-Guest disparaged him with insults, calling him “fucking insane” and “insignificant.” That’s when Dechert brought out his secret weapon: a booming fart that he released while shouting, “I’m farting!” All the while, RFJ Jr. calmly watched the gaseous chaos unfold. Dechert said the following to Page Six about the incident: “I apologize for using my flatulence as a medium of public commentary in your presence.”

Humanized kidneys grown inside pigs for the first time

Scientists have grown humanized kidneys in pigs, raising the prospect of human organs being grown inside animals.

The research involved creating human-pig chimeric embryos containing a combination of human and pig cells. When transferred into surrogate pig mothers, the developing embryos were shown to have kidneys that contained mostly human cells, marking the first time that scientists have grown a solid humanized organ inside another animal.

“Rat organs have been produced in mice, and mouse organs have been produced in rats, but previous attempts to grow human organs in pigs have not succeeded,” said the senior author Liangxue Lai, of the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Wuyi University. “Our approach improves the integration of human cells into recipient tissues and allows us to grow human organs in pigs.”

The kidneys were not entirely human as they included vasculature and nerves made mostly from pig cells, meaning they could not be used for transplantation in their current form. It is not clear whether the challenge of making a wholly human organ would be achievable with current genetic engineering techniques.

Government to replace HS2 rail link to Manchester with brand new horse and cart

The government has today revealed plans to scrap the HS2 rail link from Birmingham to Manchester in favour of a brand new horse and cart fleet for the north.

With news emerging earlier that the northern leg of the link could now be scrapped due to rising costs, government officials have quickly moved to reassure northerners that they haven’t been forgotten and will be provided with up to THREE new horse and carts for travel around the area, along with a new canal boat.

A Spokesperson for the government confirmed, “You’re welcome.

“We can confirm today that we will be scrapping the HS2 link for northerners, because they don’t vote for us anyway, so frankly who gives a shit what they think.

“However, we will be offering an alternative for the people of the north in the form of some horse and carts to get around their cobbled streets and take them up to the mill or whatever it is they do up there.”

Swansea: Drug dealers in mid-air after police car chase

Two Class A drug dealers trying to escape police were caught when their getaway car ended up wedged in the air between a lamppost and an unmarked police vehicle.

Arif Ali, 21, and Tanvir Ali, 20, were arrested after crack cocaine and heroin with a street value in excess of £11,000 was found inside their cars.

Watch: Backpackers flee fireball in Sydney hostel

Two backpackers had a narrow escape when a Lithium-ion battery exploded at a Sydney hostel.

The fire is thought to have been caused by a faulty e-bike battery which was charging, the New South Wales fire department said.

It deployed six fire engines and 22 firefighters to the scene.

One of the backpackers required treatment for minor burns to his leg.

Anti-trans conservative busted with child sex abuse pictures on his computer

An Indiana man with a history of posting far-right and anti-trans memes on social media has been arrested and charged with possession of child sex abuse material.

Eldon W. Phelps, 25, of Lebanon, Indiana, was arrested in August after the Boone County Sexual Assault and Child Exploitation Task Force linked him to an image of a prepubescent girl being raped by an adult man, according to the Lebanon Reporter.

The Facebook account for “Eldon Wolfgang Phelps” on which the posts appeared is rife with anti-vaccine, pro-gun, misogynistic, medical misinformation, anti-immigrant, and conspiracy theory memes. The user also reposted multiple videos featuring social media personality Andrew Tate, who has been charged with rape and human trafficking in Romania.

The user also posted multiple anti-trans memes and appears to have gotten particularly worked up over the controversy surrounding Bud Light’s partnership with Mulvaney in April—around the same time the Boone County Sexual Assault and Child Exploitation Task Force received that tip that led to Phelps’s arrest.

Anger as diner 'puts own hair on plate to get free meal'

Tom Croft, the owner of a pub in Lancashire, has spoken to the BBC after discovering that a pub diner, who was refunded the cost of their meal, appeared to plant hair on a plate in CCTV footage.

He said that the lady in question had dined at the Observatory in Blackburn before "kicking up a fuss" to bar staff.

Mr Croft revealed he found out about the alleged dining deception after reviewing the video to check if the pub had done anything wrong.
