Re: Donald Trump news and discussions
Conservatives are going to use this image because it looks iconic and history making, with a strong and defiant Trump looking like an American hero with the flag in the background. But he's nothing of the sort.

Naw we gonna be fine imo; let's not forget that if Trumpers lash out at society they gonna look bad again
Re: Donald Trump news and discussions
After four years of his first presidency, after Jan 6, and becoming a felon, that Trump and his supporters don't look like the fascist authoritarian bigots that they are to everyone else yet I doubt anything in the next scant few months left is going to change things now.firestar464 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 4:56 am Naw we gonna be fine imo; let's not forget that if Trumpers lash out at society they gonna look bad again

I mean, could there be a more iconic image for 2024?
This election is 100% over.
He's won. And probably in a landslide.

It's not really the Trumpers that Joe and friends need to win over but rather the undecided people. Furthermore I still doubt Trump will win; the keys remain unchanged.Vakanai wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 5:13 amAfter four years of his first presidency, after Jan 6, and becoming a felon, that Trump and his supporters don't look like the fascist authoritarian bigots that they are to everyone else yet I doubt anything in the next scant few months left is going to change things now.firestar464 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 4:56 am Naw we gonna be fine imo; let's not forget that if Trumpers lash out at society they gonna look bad again

Yeah, I think most people understand this. When it comes to said election, the best the Democrats can do is mitigate the damage. Replacing Biden and potentially Harris as well should be in consideration, even if it doesn't matter now, they could at least think about the future.
I'm not certain if it'll be a Ronald Regan-esque landslide, but it'll likely be greater than 2016.
What's going to happen to us? I hope Trump still cares for these "futuristic cities" he's mentioned before. If you wish for America to be an "Imperial Empire" or whatever, then make it worthwhile at the very least and not just this cultural war nonsense.

No, absolutely do not replace Harris. We need stability not some primary mess.
And as I said, nothing has changed when it comes to the current admin's governing capacity. The only thing that is remotely concerning is the possibility of sustained political violence.

Undecided people have just witnessed Biden's age related cognitive decline and Trump standing strong and defiant after an assassination attempt in probably the most iconic "patriotic" picture of the decade. You really don't see that swaying odds?firestar464 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 7:34 amIt's not really the Trumpers that Joe and friends need to win over but rather the undecided people. Re: Donald Trump news and discussions
AP interviewed an undecided voter, who condemned political violence but wasn't more inclined to support Trump after the attempt despite being more aligned with his views. Another guy (leanings unclear, though in a swing area) was more shocked at the fact that this happened in the modern day

Weird crossover but here is an excellent take on the situation by (surprise) Jimmy Apples:
