Trump safe after gunshots in his vicinity - campaign

Former President Donald Trump is safe following gunshots "in his vicinity", his campaign said, after an incident took place near his Florida golf club on Sunday.

“President Trump is safe," his campaign communications director, Steven Cheung, said, adding there were "No further details at this time".

The Secret Service confirmed in a post on X that they were investigating a "protective incident" involving Trump that took place shortly before 14:00 EST (19:00 BST).

The White House confirmed President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris had been briefed about the incident that they said took place at the Trump International Golf Course, "where former President Trump was golfing".

^^^ Liberals and Democrats have been requesting, even begging Trump to tone down the rhetoric because such rhetoric encourages people to act in a violent manner. Trump has totally and completely ignored those requests. We saw what happened at the debates, Trump blamed the Democrats for his nearly taking a bullet to the head. This, despite the fact that his assailant apparently had no political motives per se but was just in it for the notoriety. Like Trump, he was an attention seeker. The difference being that his assailant didn’t seem to care if getting that attention would cost him his life. Certainly, no responsible spokesman on the left encouraged that attack. Rather, they always made their comments in the context of electoral politics and by use of democratic and/or judicial processes.

So, what can we expect regarding this latest incident?

Trump will take no responsibility for his own words heightening the tension and will further blame the Democrats.

BETHEL PARK, Pennsylvania -- Law enforcement officials investigating the assassination attempt on Donald Trump told lawmakers today in an unclassified briefing that 20 minutes passed between the time U.S. Secret Service snipers first spotted Crooks on the roof and the time shots were fired at the former president, according to several law enforcement officials and lawmakers briefed on the matter.

According to this source, briefers said the snipers spotted him on the roof at 5:52. The shooting happened at 6:12, 20 minutes later.

The briefing was conducted by the FBI Director, his Deputy Director and the head of the USSS.

A second assassination attempt on the life of Donald Trump was narrowly averted on Sunday after a Secret Service agent fired on an armed suspect at the former president’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Secret Service agent spotted a man pushing the barrel of an AK-47 rifle through the plant-lined fence surrounding the property, 300-500 yards from where Trump was playing golf.

The agent fired at the man, who fled. The suspect, identified by Associated Press as Ryan Wesley Routh, was later detained and is now in custody.

“There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors still spiralling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” wrote Trump in a statement sent out Sunday afternoon.

At a press conference, officials laid out a surreal timeline of events: the Secret Service agent had gone ahead to the next Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach hole to secure the location before Trump’s arrival, when the agent spotted the barrel of the rifle through the fence – and opened fire.

Judge Aileen Cannon Failed to Disclose a Right-Wing Junket

Introduction:

(Pro Publica) Federal Judge Aileen M. Cannon, the controversial jurist who tossed out the classified documents criminal case against Donald Trump in July, failed to disclose her attendance at a May 2023 banquet funded by a conservative law school.

Cannon went to an event in Arlington, Va. honoring the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, according to documents obtained from the Law and Economics Center at George Mason University. At a lecture and private dinner, she sat among members of Scalia’s family, fellow Federalist Society members and more than 30 conservative federal judges. Organizers billed the event as “an excellent opportunity to connect with judicial colleagues.”

A 2006 rule, intended to shine a light on judges’ attendance at paid seminars that could pose conflicts or influence decisions, requires them to file disclosure forms for such trips within 30 days and make them public on the court’s website.

It’s not the first time she has failed to fully comply with the rule.

Cannon’s performance during almost four years of a lifetime appointment has drawn criticism from lawyers, former federal judges and courtroom observers who told ProPublica that she doesn’t render timely decisions and has made unpredictable rulings in both civil and criminal matters. Trump confuses Afghan airbase with Alaska wilflife refuge

Former President Donald Trump mixed up the name of an Alaskan wildlife refuge and an air base in Afghanistan during a town hall in Flint, Michigan on Tuesday.

Boasting to the audience about how he got oil drilling approved in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, commonly referred to ANWR, Trump said

“Looking forward to the dozen NYT stories about Trump’s age and mental acuity. Oh wait. That’s just reserved for Democrats,” reacted former Hillary Clinton senior adviser Zac Petkanas.

“Bagram was the airbase he had in Afghanistan- the same base where we kept hundreds of Taliban and ISIS prisoners that Trump released back out into Afghanistan in his final year in office,” tweeted Democratic polit Amy McGrath. “He is CLUELESS folks.”

Donald Trump has been roasted for claiming that the audience at the presidential debate with Kamala Harris “went crazy” for him – despite the fact that there was no live audience present.

The former president often claims his crowd sizes are huge – even wildly claiming he drew in a bigger crowd than Martin Luther King Jr during the March on Washington – but this time, he appeared to go even further by claiming there was one at all.

Appearing on Wednesday’s episode of Gutfeld!, Trump hit out at the ABC News’ debate’s moderators arguing they “corrected everything I said practically.”

“They didn’t correct her once. And they corrected me, everything I said, practically. I think nine times or 11 times,” he told Greg Gutfeld.

Trump then referred to the nonexistent audience.
