US probing Elon Musk's Tesla over self-driving systems
19 October 2024, 00:27 BST

The US agency in charge of regulating road safety revealed Friday that they are probing Tesla's self-driving software systems.

The evaluation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) covers 2.4 million Tesla vehicles across multiple models manufactured between 2016 and 2024.

NHTSA's action is the first step toward any potential recall that the agency might seek against the company, which is run by tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Tesla did not immediately reply on Friday to a BBC inquiry about the investigation.

NHTSA's preliminary evaluation follows four crash reports involving the use of Tesla's "Full Self-Driving", or FSD, software.

Tesla Will Start Unsupervised Robotaxi in Texas and California in Mid 2025

October 29, 2024 by Brian Wang
Elon gave a bunch of predictions at a conference about the future.

Tesla will start unsupervised robotaxi in Texas and California in Mid-2025.

All Tesla vehicles will be autonomous. Autonomy is here. There will be hundreds of millions of Tesla and they will all be autonomous.

Tesla FSD V13 Rollout Start Means Robotaxi Domination Starts 2025

November 3, 2024 by Brian Wang
Tesla is rolling out FSD (Full Self Driving) version 13 this weekend to Tesla employees. This includes a fleet of Tesla cars being used to give Waymo-Uber like ridehailing to Tesla employees.

I make the case that FSD Version 13 and the systems that follow next year will give Tesla a 5-10 year lead. The car company and Waymo competitors in China are currently buying Nvidia Orin and Thor driving chips and software. The Nvidia driving chips are just the base system and the companies still have to train them to create their driving automation AI.

IF Tesla has a 5-10 year lead then the obvious choice to catch up with a system that is 600 times better than the Ford, Xpeng, Huawei, BYD or other driving systems is to license FSD from Tesla.

This is one of the positives I was talking about. Didn't he ever come out in support of flying cars? I think I heard something about that too.

Altimeter Capital Says Tesla FSD 13 Is as Safe as Waymo and Unsupervised Tesla Robotaxi in 2025

November 21, 2024 by Brian Wang
https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2024/11/a ... -2025.html
Altimeter Capital ($20 Billion Venture Capital company) thinks Tesla FSD 13 has caught up to Waymo, one critical disengagement every 15000 miles and will reach one critical disengagement every 100,000 miles in Q1 2025.

Altimeter Capital has sold all of its Uber holdings to buy Tesla. Brad Gerstner explained the sale of Uber by the belief that Tesla Robotaxi could disrupt Uber.

Tesla reach reach one critical disengagement every 500,000 miles in the middle of 2025. This is the average human level driver for critical disengagements.

Brad Gerstner believes Tesla will be able to remove the safety driving mode for robotaxi in the middle of 2025 by placing the car in robotaxi mode. This is a mode of defensive driving where the car is more careful about speed and how cautious it is. The human will be a passenger who will not disengage but will accept the driving. Just as a human accepts the driving choices of a bus driver.

Tesla FSD 13.2 Can Reverse, Park and Unpark Itself
November 30, 2024 by Brian Wang
https://www.nextbigfuture.com/2024/11/t ... tself.html
Tesla FSD 13.2 can reverse, park and unpark itself. This means far more complete no intervention drives.

It does three point turns.

The Tesla fleet can talk to each other.

FSD improvements over the last ~60 days:

• FSD v13 with ~5-6x improvement in miles between necessary interventions
• Unpark, Park, and Reverse in FSD
• FSD for Cybertruck
• End-to-End network on highway
• Eye-tracking with sunglasses
• Cybertruck Autopark
• Actually Smart Summon
• FSD v12.5.2 on Al3 computer (unified models for AI3 & AI4)
• FSD v12.5.2

I'd like to see all cars in the future be able to self drive. Disabled people and old people would benefit greatly by being able to get into a car and not having to have to have a lenience or ability to perform the action. Some of these people are poor and it would be nice if in 10-20 years a couple thousand dollar vehicle would be able to do this. It would be a gods sent.

Tesla China has officially announced the launch of Actually Smart Summon (ASS) in China. The announcement says Actual Smart Summon is available with Enhanced Autopilot and FSD (Full Self Driving). Full Self Driving has not been authorized in China…yet. However, FSD will be available in China very soon.
