Part 1: On April 20th, 2025, the United States may Cross the Point of No Return.

It sounds wild. Maybe even crazy. But every step is already in motion. I’d be happy to be wrong. But if this is correct… you’ll be ready.

On April 20, 2025, the United States may initiate its final steps into authoritarian rule.

That’s the day Donald Trump’s advisory committee is expected to release its findings on whether he should invoke the Insurrection Act — a move that would allow him to deploy the military domestically and allow Trump to impose martial law. (San Francisco Chronicle). Given Hegseth and Noem are the main “advisors”, the conclusion is foregone.

And as his two months in office has already shown, he won’t stop at just a legal opinion.

Expect an executive order even that same day or the next, officially declaring the Insurrection Act, restricting freedoms in the name of restoring control of the border and perhaps in blue-state cities, and setting the larger plan in motion.

Frighteningly, it all fits together. Foreign prison camps to which immigrants and then even citizens can be deported without due process, continued voter suppression laws that are being ramped up in their severity, demolition of the federal government to remove any elements that are more loyal to the Constitution then they are to Trump. Alternatively, to strike such fear into those that retain their positions that they dare not defy the regime. The putting aside of the Supreme Court decision which now may very well have the effect of rendering that institution powerless to stop Trump

Few seem to have seen it coming. Not the Supreme Court which dragged its heals and otherwise failed to act to stop Trump. Not the Attorney General under the Biden administration who waited much too long to initiate an investigation into the lawless nature of Trump. Certainly not the "conservative" media that has been more reactionary - even fascist - then it has been "conservative." Not the many voters who did not realize that they were casting a vote choosing between democracy and fascism. Or did not care. Not the Republicans in Congress who left it up to the Democrats to stop Trump.

At each step it has become increasingly difficult to stop Trump. Yet, that will be our only choice. That, or letting Trump continue his demolition of our democracy, our economy, our health, and our environment.

I hope that this is all hyperbolic rhetoric on my part. Yet, it is a description that seems most in line with what can now be observed.
Don't mourn, organize.

It may come down to the states dealing with Trump should we cross the rubicon. If they're the ones propping up the federal government, they can also tear it down to create a new one. Question is will all states act cohesively to remove Trump when he is popular in some of them?
To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

I'm just imagining that many decades from now, a movie about Trump's invocation of the Insurrection Act will be produced and shown in the same way we now show movies about WW2. It might even be titled "Easter Sunday"

Senior Republican flounders when asked about Trump plan to deport US citizens to foreign jails

Source: Yahoo! News/Independent

Sun, April 20, 2025 at 3:33 PM EDT

A CNN anchor grilled a top-ranking House Republican on Sunday over whether Congress would sit by and allow the Trump administration to continue with its mass deportation strategy if American citizens started being targeted.

Though it’s illegal to deport US citizens, President Donald Trump has raised the possibility on several occasions in recent weeks. During a White House visit with El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukele last week, the US commander-in-chief urged the leader of a Central American country — with the cameras rolling — to expand a notorious mega-prison used to house gang members and other hardened criminals in order to house Americans.

In other instances, Trump has proposed such a punishment for demonstrators who vandalise or commit arson at Tesla dealerships over the left’s anger with its CEO, Elon Musk.

On Sunday, CNN’s Dana Bash interviewed House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, the third-highest ranking Republican in the House of Representatives. She pressed Emmer repeatedly over whether he, in his capacity as an attorney as well as a lawmaker, believed that Trump had the legal or constitutional authority to deport American citizens if they were convicted of violent crimes.
