Looks like full blown war has started. Hold onto your ass!

Pakistan says it hit multiple targets in India and Indian-administered Kashmir
From CNN's Sophia Saifi
https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/ind ... 6842767819
Pakistani military claims it has hit multiple targets in India and Indian-administered Kashmir.

Here are four Indian military targets they say they have struck:

Brigade Headquarters KG Top
Field supply depot Uri
Artillery Gun Position Derangyari
BrahMos battery site Nagrota
Udhampur air field

These are locations near or along the de-facto border that divides the disputed Kashmir region between New Delhi and Islamabad.

The Pakistan military said in an “eye for eye” retaliation, they targeted the Indian air bases that were used to launch missiles on Pakistan. CNN cannot independently verify Pakistan’s claim regarding India’s strikes. CNN has reached out to India’s Ministry of Defense and the Indian Air Force for a response.

The tensions between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir attack are definitely concerning. It’s good to see that Rubio is stepping in, trying to push both sides toward de-escalation. The situation is already pretty intense with the expulsion of diplomats, the border closing, and military exchanges. Hopefully, the diplomatic efforts can help calm things down before it escalates further.

It is good that at least Rubio is not indifferent to the dangers posed by tensions in the region as one report that I heard was that Trump was unconcerned. Assuming tensions continue to lessen, this could be a rare positive accomplishment of the Trump administration due to Marco Rubio's efforts. I didn't realize he had it in him.

India-Pakistan Ceasefire Shouldn’t Disguise Fact that Norms Have Changed in South Asia, Making Future de-escalation Much Harder
by Farah N. Jan
May 10, 2025

Introduction:
(The Conversation) India and Pakistan have seen the scenario play out before: a terror attack in which Indians are killed leads to a succession of escalatory tit-fot-tat measures that put South Asia on the brink of all-out war. And then there is a de-escalation.

The broad contours of that pattern have played out in the most recent crisis, with the latest step being the announcement of a ceasefire on May 10, 2025.

But in another important way, the flare-up – which began on April 22 with a deadly attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed – represents significant departures from the past. It involved direct missile exchanges targeting sites inside both territories and the use of advanced missile systems and drones by the two nuclear rivals for the first time.
Additional extract:
Reports indicate Chinese-made Pakistani J-10 fighter jets shot down multiple Indian aircraft, including advanced French Rafale jets. This confrontation between Chinese and Western weapons represents not just a bilateral conflict but a proxy test of rival global military technologies – adding another layer of great-power competition to the crisis.

In addition, the use of loitering drones designed to attack radar systems represents a significant escalation in the technological sophistication of cross-border attacks compared to years past.
The article also briefly notes expansion of conflict into “the cyberdomain.”
