Personal chat thread
Re: Personal chat thread
Just took my first trip into central London since March 2020. Went through St Pancras/Kings Cross station. Weird to be among big crowds after so long, and a little unnerving, although I'm double vaxxed. Felt like a proper Londoner, and was good to experience a part of normal life again. Can't say I've missed the trains though.
Re: Personal chat thread
Don't know if I got a cold of COVID, but I've had a very mild illness for the past few days now. If it was COVID (because of the dry cough), the vaccines seemed to do their job because it's already lifting. In fact, the very first day it really hit me, it dropped in intensity before the day was half-over, making me wonder if my antibodies crushed it before it progressed too far.
And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future
Re: Personal chat thread
During a phone call with my Dad –
Me: "I'm kind of in the overlap between young and middle aged. I think when I reach 45, then I'll be middle aged."
Dad: "I agree."

Every time you are hit with something, you can speculate about what it is. My daughter got a cold for more than two weeks ago, still not over it. She has been tested, not Covid. Then I got sick 5-6 days ago, maybe from her? We are blind like bats here. Probably just a cold, I have been tested so many times for Covid, and I'm fully vaccinated, I'm fed up with this virus.
Re: Personal chat thread
I can't believe I live in a society where I have to pretend to friends that I don't believe in the vaccine and I believe in their theories else I get spammed by bullshit.
Re: Personal chat thread
Sounds like you need some new friends. Personally I would break friends with anyone who admits to being anti-vax.Set and Meet Goals wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 7:20 am I can't believe I live in a society where I have to pretend to friends that I don't believe in the vaccine and I believe in their theories else I get spammed by bullshit.

No, it's not COVID. Cough is wet now, and I don't feel so bad either.

Thanks!
And even if it was COVID, I'm fully vaccinated.
Still: get vaccinated, folks! After all, mRNA technology is a modern miracle. And just imagine how much better medical technology will get from here. In ten years, we might have vaccines or smart drugs that destroy even pancreatic cancer.

I too had a scare. Went into an awful, dry coughing fit late last weekend and into Monday, which then turned into tightness around my chest. Got a COVID test once that happened but thankfully both my partner and I came back negative. Finally getting over it now so probably won't get it checked out, assuming it's some other upper respiratory infection. And this all started in the middle of last week as a sore throat.
An apple pie from scratch.

I know this is pseudoscience crap anyways it feels like when I am moving forward in life everyone reaches out to me and when I am going backwards in life no one does.
Maybe there is a psychological explanation as to why I feel this way.

Re: Personal chat thread
Just took my first Covid test (lateral flow) and was negative.
Re: Personal chat thread
First day back in the office today.
Unpleasant and tiring commute.
Really nice to meet colleagues in person after 18 months, and we had a great pub lunch in the City. Had my first beer since March 2020.
Not sure if I'll be going back regularly though. I still prefer remote. May just go in every month or two, for special occasions, etc.

I still can't return to my sports stadium Job due to lockdown so the Government has sent me to a job provider focusing on manufacturing. I think this will be good for me I know people will think this is silly but I like to have jobs that make me feel like a man. Jobs in manufacturing could make me naturally strong as well.

Re: Personal chat thread
I had decided to leave my current workplace after 7+ years being there, i have just applied for a role at Tesco and hope to get a response in the next few days for an interview.
, if successful i would start there within a month.

It seems like most people on the internet are pissed off with the world political situation.
One non science thing most people on the forum would agree on is that they hate the current political climate.

This is extremely off-topic, but I was wondering if any of you would be interested in reading the first draft of a futuristic fantasy novel I'm writing? Even reading the first few chapters would be helpful. I'm in a writing program trying to get a book published before AI outcompetes me.
The first draft will be most likely available in the winter of 2022. I think it would be helpful to see what a few armchair futurists think, even if it is just fantasy.

Sure, for real thought If you plan on publishing it to make money get something akin to copyright before sharing it here. Whist we are mostly great people on this forum, trolls have falsely accused a great member of being a pedo and have tried to make a poster look like a Nazi. So don't 100% trust an anonymous forum that anyone can go to you don't want your story stolen.SerethiaFalcon wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 7:48 am This is extremely off-topic, but I was wondering if any of you would be interested in reading the first draft of a futuristic fantasy novel I'm writing? Thanks for the advice Set and Meet Goals. Yeah, it is horrible what happens to people sometimes on the internet. But, seeing how the world is, I can't say I'm surprised.
