Personal chat thread
Re: Personal chat thread
Bitterly disappointing day of coding with ChatGPT. Nearly given up with my new website. o3 is great for short to medium-sized blocks of code, but it still really struggles with longer prompts.

Have you tried Gemini?

Not for coding (yet), but I'm going to.

Re: Personal chat thread
What an incredible evening. I saw BERNIE SANDERS in conversation with James O'Brien!!!
Both absolute legends, but particularly Bernie. It was so inspiring to hear him talk about the current state of politics, and how people need to organise against the oligarchy. The discussion covered pretty much everything – from healthcare, to inequality, corporate lobbying, climate change, AI...
Everyone was given a free copy of his book, "It's okay to be angry about capitalism". This was at Central Hall Westminster.

I was in London yesterday evening, for dinner and then a VR rave!
A friend and I met at Côte, a French restaurant. We then experienced "In Pursuit Of Repetitive Beats", which is running at the Barbican Centre. It was mind-blowing! I'd had two previous VR experiences, but this was by far the best... about 10 times more immersive, and extremely well designed!
We were split into groups of four (my friend, plus me and two other guys), and placed in a restricted "zone" to confine us within a simulated area. They made us wear various devices – a haptic suit for touch feedback, two controllers for virtual "hands", headphones, and the virtual reality headset.
It was basically a kind of interactive documentary, recreating the rave scene in 1989. This included a house with friends gathering for a night out, a police station, the inside of a car travelling towards the venue, and then the venue itself. All in 3D, with near-photorealistic people, objects you could pick up, while walking around our zone. Plus we could see the outlines of each other, so we avoided bumping into each other. Great music/sound and narration too.
One of the most amazing experiences I've had in a while!

Re: Personal chat thread
I think my younger self would be shocked by the number of medical issues I've developed over the years. Particularly since turning 40.
My latest one is meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), which is causing major dryness in my eyes, and some blurriness.
I had to spend nearly £1,000 this week on a private consultation + specialised eye drops + heat mask for my eyes + temporary pair of glasses for reading/computer use.
In early 2026, they'll assess whether I'm suitable for a 2nd lasik treatment (I had the first in 2008).

Re: Personal chat thread
Busy few days, visiting family in East Anglia, and my laptop died on the first day, so I wasn't able to do any work/writing.
New laptop arrived this morning and I spent all of today getting it set up, installing apps, etc.
Really cool machine (Asus V16) with a decent spec -- my first laptop with a GPU, in this case an RTX 4050. Keyboard is backlit with a cool neon blue.
Tomorrow I'm back home in Essex and will try to post a blog or prediction!

Re: Personal chat thread
I had a bad week... Severe back ache, and really busy at work. And some problems in my flat.
But I'm feeling somewhat better now, and finally have some free time.
Currently working on antimatter predictions. Below is the graph I mentioned recently.
And there'll be a guest blog from my father, a day or two after that!

IDK, what was the question? IDK why that sub even exists. Do they just want a hugbox?
Re: Personal chat thread
I'd say my new website is now 85% complete.
The main "workflow" of the user experience is essentially done, apart from a payment system and email confirmation. It took around 2.5 years of coding to get the right look and feel, and to incorporate the insane amounts of error handling, security, etc. with tons of trial-and-error. We're talking literally thousands of test runs on the main submission form alone, not to mention the search engine I've incorporated.
Having done all the hardest parts, I worked on a "fun" aspect this weekend – the main banner and navigation for the homepage. This should be completed in the next few days. I'll then have just a few more elements to add, linking to each section, and a contact form.
When it goes live, I expect most of you will actually find it quite boring (lol). But I hope it will prove useful to science/tech industries and those in the futurist community.
And in the best-case scenario, it becomes my full-time job...!

Just been to a David Byrne concert at the Hammersmith Apollo, London. Was effing awesome!
Loads of Talking Heads classics – including my favourite, This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody).

Re: Personal chat thread
Busy few days, with very little time for writing/updates.
My company gave me a 450-page report to work on, which sapped my energy.
I also had to visit an eye clinic in West London, the same place where I had Lasik in 2008. They told me that a Lasik re-treatment is now too risky because of corneal scarring.
I've had ongoing vision problems for 10+ years, and this latest appointment was basically the final roll of the dice. I did however ask the surgeon about future tech/treatments, and he reckons it might be easier to fix corneal scarring in the next 5-10 years. Anyway, my vision isn't that bad, it's mainly just the left eye, which has peripheral ghosting/blur. My right eye is mostly fine. And I now have glasses for reading and short-range activities.
I've had various other stuff to sort out this week so far. And the sheer amount of news from around the world is a constant distraction.
But this weekend I should finally get some free time... and I have a couple of new predictions in mind.

Re: Personal chat thread
Increasingly veering towards cashing out my Negro Check apparently
Because I've grown ever more negative towards Black culture and this whole white liberal obsession with treating Blacks as gods who can't do anything wrong and if we do, it's the white man's fault
I'm all but at my ends of tolerating that bullshit
Cold fact is, the Californianist cadre is losing me and I'm noticing way too often it's white and Jewish liberals who keep pushing certain narratives that I simply don't think are true. "Mathematics are racist" and "English (the education subject and the language) is racist" (because Black students keep failing) was pretty much the last straw. Something's got to give, and the ones who've decided anything related to white people = bad are the ones who are doomed to failure, because it turns out demonizing successful behavior as inherent to one race is only going to lead to utter incompetence and failure.
There, I said it. Seriously, you can criticize the culture without saying "I want every black man swinging from a tree," even if society decides the two are equivalent based on bullshit metrics.
And by fucking Christ's word, "acting white" if I ever hear that again, it'll be a hundred years too soon.
And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future

I mean, the language isn't racist; that's an absurd thing for people to be saying. Also wtf about math?
That being said, I've heard something along the lines of how the non-acceptance of AAVE as a legitimate variety of English despite its consistent grammatical rules and the diversity of the English language may be an issue? Curious to hear your thoughts.
(Tbf, from what I know it isn't considered formal or proper to write in Southern English either.)

Re: Personal chat thread
I'd be more excited about
1. Stopping the aging process
2. The chance to carry a baby and the reproductive freedom to have as many as I wish.
3. The ability to grow a new heart, lungs or what ever I wish.
I love space but the older I get the more I want the medical advances. Sadly, there isn't nearly enough of them.
Seriously, if we don't stop aging I or will aint going to live love enough to see cities on Mars.

The front end of my new website is now essentially complete, after three years of work.
All that remains now is to integrate the payment system and back end emails. Plus a bit of marketing/promotion and final testing before launch.
