'25th Amendment Moment': Gavin Newsom Urges Action Against 'Mad King' Trump
By Ed Mazza
July 16, 2026

Introduction:
(Huffington Post) California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Thursday night warned that President Donald Trump’s bizarre and rambling speech on supposed election fraud is an attempt to rig this year’s midterm elections in favor of Republicans.

“Well, the only thing missing tonight from Donald Trump’s speech was tin foil,” Newsom said of Trump’s conspiracy-laden claims. “This was a legitimate 25th Amendment moment, the ramblings of a mad king.”

The 25th Amendment to the Constitution, in part, describes a process by which the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet can declare a president unable to perform his duties, putting the vice president in charge, at least temporarily.

Newsom dismissed Trump’s claims as “make-believe.”

“He wants to rig the election in 2026. He knows he’s going to lose. He needs to rig the election before one vote was cast,” Newsom said. “That’s what that whole thing was about tonight.”

Hard to say which is more difficult. He has been impeached twice and is still in power. In part, thanks to support he enjoys in the U.S. Senate. The 25th Amendment is hard to implement because Vice President Vance and Trump's cabinet would have to take the needed action. Hard to see that bunch of sycophants taking the needed action.

I think Newsome's comment is more an argument than something he believes is going to happen. Something like "not only is he a crook, but he is highly delusional was well." Points that the spineless GOP is simply not ready to embrace.

Yes, if the President insists that he is able to carry on in his duties:
Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

The poster of that video even admitted it was fake. @weather, please check your sources and do adequate factchecking before posting, especially as it relates to the news. Wjfox I doubt wants AI generated videos as news which can be interpreted as spreading misinformation on the site.

554 days into Donald Trump's term

July 28th 2026

Donald Trump’s net approval rating has fallen to a record low of -25, according to The Economist’s tracker of YouGov polling. The administration’s resumption of strikes on Iran in mid-July might be to blame. The war remains deeply unpopular with most Americans. Our polling suggests that 60% of them think the administration is spending too much money on the conflict. The president says American officials have resumed talks with their Iranian counterparts. He has also threatened to bomb the country more heavily if negotiations fail. But America has few good options for a massive attack.
