Samsung Is Reportedly Planning 5 Foldables for 2027, Including an Extra-Wide Unit
This year's book-style Galaxy Z Fold 8 has been a huge success.
By Devesh Beri August 18, 2026
Samsung Electronics is reportedly planning to expand its foldable phone lineup to five models in 2027. According to the Korean outlet ETNews, one of these will be a new extra-wide unit with "a screen aspect ratio optimized for video viewing."

The lineup is expected to include:

the Galaxy Z Fold 9,

a second wide-format Fold model,

the Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra,

the Galaxy Z Flip 9 (surprising, because this year was expected to be its last)

a second-generation Galaxy Z TriFold.

Apple's new boss starts with big gamble on $2,000 first folding iPhone

9 September 2026

John Ternus has entered his second week as Apple's chief executive and the company has revealed the first major change to the iPhone since it was released almost 20 years ago.

Ternus, who took on Apple's top job after Tim Cook stepped down, was onstage on Wednesday at the company's annual product release event in front of huge images of the first foldable iPhone.

With a book-style format, the new iPhone, dubbed the Duo, is the largest ever size of the product. And with a US starting price of $1,999 (£1,475) going up to $3,200, it is also the most expensive. UK prices start at £1,999.

Ternus said the Duo was "inspired by the iPad" but called the folding features "fluid and completely intuitive."

The foldable phone has been a work-in-progress inside Apple for several years.

Apple Unveils iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max With Variable-Aperture Camera, A20 Pro Chip
Both start at $100 more than last year's models.
By Devesh Beri September 11, 2026
Apple on Wednesday unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, each featuring a variable-aperture main camera and the 2nm-based A20 Pro chip.

Both phones have a 48MP Fusion main camera that can adjust its aperture based on lighting and depth needs. Users can also manually choose from four aperture settings.

The A20 Pro chip has a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the chip gives up to 40% faster GPU performance than the iPhone 17 Pro's A19 Pro and 2x that of the iPhone 16 Pro's A18 Pro. The vapor chamber has also been redesigned.

The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display—the same as the iPhone 17 Pro—and the Pro Max has a 6.90-inch display. Both phones come with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage options. This time there are four colors to choose from: Black, Silver, Glacier, and Burgundy.

After a 3-Year Plateau, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Will Finally Introduce a Display Panel Upgrade
The all-new S27 Pro will also get a new display panel.
By Devesh Beri September 15, 2026

Samsung is set to upgrade the displays on its flagship phone lineup with the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, which hit shelves in early 2027. The two models, with the Pro being the new addition, will be the first Samsung smartphones to use Samsung Display's latest M16 OLED, Korea's ETNews reports. This is the first update to Galaxy S-series displays in three years.

Samsung Display's M16 OLED panels—already seen on the iPhone 18 Pro series and Pixel 11 series—will lend the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra COE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) technology, which incorporates color filtering into the screen's thin-film encapsulation (TFE) layer. They'll also introduce a hardware-level Privacy Display called Flex Magic Panel, which came out earlier this year with the S26 Ultra. This can be toggled on and off and works at the pixel level, narrowing the viewing angle so content becomes hard to see from the side.
