30th December 2020 Boston Dynamics' robots dance to "Do you love me" Boston Dynamics, already well known for its cutting-edge robotics technology, has released a new video in which its latest machines can be seen dancing to the classic song "Do You Love Me" by the Contours. This line-up includes the bipedal humanoid Atlas, the four-legged canine-inspired Spot, and the two-wheeled Handle. The robots' moves appear eerily human-like as they strut their stuff – an effect known as the uncanny valley. As Guardian reporter and features writer Carole Cadwalladr tweets: "I went to a DARPA robotics challenge in 2015 and the robots could barely walk in a line without falling over. And now..." SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk also notes: "This is not CGI." "Our whole crew got together to celebrate the start of what we hope will be a happier year," says the team at Boston Dynamics. "Happy New Year from all of us at Boston Dynamics."
